A suicide bomber has detonated an explosives-laden belt near a football stadium in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden, killing at least four people, witnesses and a security source say.

Ten people were wounded in the attack on Tuesday, which appeared to target young army recruits waiting for buses outside a military checkpoint in the city's north, the witnesses and source added.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but jihadist militants have carried out similar suicide bombings in Aden in the past.

Such groups are not involved in a nationwide truce that started between the main warring parties in Yemen this week.
