20 people are dead and more than double that injured after a bombing outside Kabul's Supreme Court. (AAP)

A suicide bomber has killed 20 people at the entrance to Kabul's Supreme Court.

At least 48 injured people were taken to hospital as a result of the terrorist act which targeted the Afghan capital's Supreme Court as employees were leaving at the end of the working day.

Witnesses reported blood stains on the street and numerous ambulances leaving the area. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
