Suns lose Tassie pair for Hawks AFL game

Gold Coast's Jesse Lonergan and Kade Kolodjashnij will not return to their home state of Tasmania after being ruled out of the AFL clash against Hawthorn.

Gold Coast have suffered a double blow ahead of their clash against AFL premiers Hawthorn with Kade Kolodjashnij and Jesse Lonergan to miss Sunday's match.

Kolodjashnij suffered a concussion in the round 12 loss to Richmond at the MCG earlier this month and is still struggling despite the Suns having the bye last weekend.

Lonergan is also out as he battles to overcome a bout of glandular fever.

Both players come from Tasmania and are devastated to miss the clash in their hometown Launceston.

Another Tasmanian product, midfielder Aaron Hall, is set to make an immediate return to the Suns' line-up after being dumped to the reserves before the Tigers' match.

Suns coach Rodney Eade said there was little concern of Lonergan passing on his condition to other members of the squad.

"It's a kissing disease I believe so unless he wants to go around kissing our players I think we'll be alright," Eade said.

"Drinking cups, that sort of thing, we've taken precautions. Jesse hasn't been in that much, he's been at a couple of meetings but, I think, fingers crossed we'll be okay."

Hard-running defender Adam Saad will return from a hamstring injury, Sean Lemmens is out with the same issue.

"We're in a state of flux at the moment," Eade said.

"We're not too bad but there's still a few to come back."
