Suns' May faces six week injury lay-off

Gold Coast defender and co-captain Steven May will miss at least four weeks with an ankle injury in another blow for the embattled Suns.

Gold Coast's defensive rock Steven May will miss at least a month of football due to an ankle injury, in another blow for the struggling AFL club.

The club confirmed on Monday night the co-captain will miss up to six weeks with injury, while Aaron Young is a chance to play this weekend after also injuring his ankle in the heavy loss to Geelong.

Aaron Hall (pec/bicep) was another casualty from the embarrassing defeat at Metricon Stadium, with an update expected on Tuesday after he had scans late on Monday.

May's absence is another massive setback for the club, who had endured the last month of a gruelling nine-game away stretch to start the season without star forward Tom Lynch.

Lynch returned for the Suns' home game on Saturday, but was below his best as former Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett led the Cats to a crushing 85-point win.

The Suns (3-7) play away to GWS this Saturday in Sydney.
