There'll be no easy ride for Gold Coast defender Jack Hombsch in his 100th AFL match on Sunday.

The Suns recruit knows he's in for a busy day at the office against Fremantle's forward line at Metricon Stadium, especially after the Dockers round one win over North Melbourne.

Fremantle booted 21 goals in the 82-point demolition against the Kangaroos - the highest tally of the opening weekend.

Hombsch knows getting on top of Cam McCarthy or Matt Taberner will help the Suns immensely.

"They had a pretty good game on the weekend. They're a pretty potent forward line as well," Hombsch said.

"At the end of the day it comes down to the inside 50 battle. If we can have more entries than them it goes a long way to winning.

"We'll back ourselves in. We're ready for the battle, we're ready to go and we want to show our supporters that we're going to have a real crack."

The Dockers head east with prized recruit Jesse Hogan adding to their forward arsenal.

The ex-Melbourne key forward was overlooked for the win over the Kangaroos due to anxiety issues but will replace Hayden Ballantyne (hamstring) in a big inclusion for Ross Lyon's side.

The Suns suffered a heart-breaking one-point loss to St Kilda last weekend and have been forced into one change with Ben Ainsworth (knee) ruled out.

Nick Holman has replaced Ainsworth on the interchange bench in the only change for the hosts.

As well as their forward line, the Suns will have to find a way to keep Dockers captain Nat Fyfe quiet.

The star midfielder averages more disposals (30.6) and clearances (8.5) a game against the Suns than any other opponent and began his year in ominous form against North.
