Gold Coast AFL recruit Jarrad Grant has had a pin inserted in his wrist after fracturing a bone in a cycling accident.

Gold Coast AFL recruit Jarrad Grant has undergone surgery after fracturing a bone in his wrist in a cycling fall.

He is expected to be out of action until the Suns' final NAB Cup match against Adelaide on March 11.

Suns football operations manager Marcus Ashcroft said Grant came off his bike during a cycling session on Saturday morning and he underwent surgery to insert a pin in his wrist on Tuesday.

The Gold Coast claimed the former Western Bulldogs forward as a delisted free agent in November.

The 193cm Grant played 81 games and kicked 83 goals in his eight seasons at Whitten Oval, the first four of which were played under now Suns coach Rodney Eade.

He played 19 games in 2015, including the elimination final loss to Adelaide.
