Sunwolves lock Bond cops four-week ban

The struggling Sunwolves will be without lock Tim Bond for a month after he copped a suspension for a dangerous shoulder charge.

Sunwolves lock Tim Bond has copped a four-week Super Rugby suspension for a dangerous tackle in the loss at the Stormers.

Bond was sent off for the shoulder charge to the head of Stormers fullback Cheslin Kolbe late in the match at Newlands on Friday night.

He was also cited and his punishment was announced Sunday by tournament organizer SANZAAR, which said Bond pleaded guilty to the offense.

The New Zealander will miss three Super Rugby games for the competition newcomers from Japan: away at the Cheetahs and home matches against the Jaguares of Argentina and the Western Force.

The Sunwolves lost 46-19 to the Stormers for their sixth defeat in six games in their debut season.
