Super Highlanders arrive in Christchurch

The Highlanders' Super Rugby team have flown to Christchurch on Saturday after being delayed by bad weather on Friday.

The Highlanders have made it to Christchurch for their Super Rugby quarter-final match against the Crusaders on Saturday evening.

The team's flight from Dunedin Airport on Friday night was cancelled due to high winds, and roads between Dunedin and Christchurch were flooded.

A state of emergency has been declared in Timaru, Dunedin and Christchurch.

Saturday's game will go ahead as normal at AMI Stadium at 7.35pm, the Crusaders said on Saturday.

Wild weather across the South Island had delayed the Highlanders' arrival in Christchurch, but they had safely landed in the city.

Christchurch City Council is asking motorists to take extra precautions around flooded areas and to take their time in getting to the game.
