Supercars driver Andre Heimgartner will split his time across two championships after committing to the inaugural TCR Australia touring car series
Heimgartner, who drives one of Kelly Racing's Nissan Altimas in the Supercars championship, will race for the same outfit in the seven-event TCR series.
It's the New Zealander's first foray into front-wheel drive touring car racing and will ensure a hectic 2019 schedule for the 23-year-old.
"It's an interesting new category, and to be given the opportunity by Kelly Racing, who I already have a great relationship with, is really exciting," Heimgartner said.
Heimgartner, who snared the first Supercars podium of his career with a third-place finish in the opening race of last month's Phillip Island event, will race a Subaru WRX in Kelly Racing's four-car TCR Australia line-up.
The TCR Australia series starts this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.
