A surfer in California had a close call when two enormous humpback whales leapt out of the water with their jaws open.
The woman was paddling on a surfboard off the coast of Santa Cruz in California and narrowly escaped becoming lunch for the whales.
The whales both lunged out of the water just feet away from the woman before plunging back underneath the water.

According to ABC News, "scientists believe weather patterns have driven fish closer to shore this year and brought the feeding whales with them."
There have been several close encounters between residents and whales this year in the area.
