Police are combing an area of bushland in Perth's southern suburbs as part of an investigation into the suspected murder of a 53-year-old Rockingham man.

Rigby Fielding was last seen visiting an associate at a house on Goderich Street in East Perth on August 15.

On Thursday, police said they had begun searching bushland near Anketell after personal property belonging to Mr Fielding was found there.
