A 23-year-old woman has been released from hospital after suffering a suspected drug overdose at a Sydney music festival.

The woman was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition on Friday night after collapsing at the Field Day festival in Sydney's CBD.

A hospital spokeswoman told AAP the 23-year-old's condition had improved and she had been released on Saturday afternoon.

More than 200 people received medical treatment at the dance festival on New Year's Day, with five hospitalised.

Police charged almost 200 people with drug offences, including eight for drug supply.

Chief Inspector Stuart Bell said the number of arrests showed some people still thought they could get away with possessing and supplying drugs.

He said people needed to take responsibility for their actions.

"You never actually know what's going to be in a pill and therefore, you always take the risk of overdosing," he said.
