A suspicious package has been left outside Nationals MP David Gillespie's house on the NSW mid-north coast.
Dr Gillespie called the police after a cylinder bearing a foreign flag and some "Roman symbolism" was left on his front fence at Sancrox, west of Port Macquarie.
"All's well that ends well," he told Sky News on Wednesday.
Local detectives are investigating but police say there is no apparent risk to the community.
"Officers have responded to a call for assistance and have established a perimeter around a home as they attempt to identify an item left outside," a NSW police spokeswoman told AAP.
