Sutton, Cummins to referee NRL grand final

Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins will referee the NRL grand final between North Queensland and Brisbane.

Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins have been appointed as the referees for Sunday's NRL grand final.

The premiership decider between North Queensland and Brisbane will be the second grand final lead referee Sutton will officiate, while it will be Cummins' third time as a whistleblower in the final match of the NRL season.

The duo refereed all three State of Origin fixtures earlier this season.

Referees boss Tony Archer said Sutton and Cummins have been "the standout match officials through the season".

"The best officials will referee the grand final," Archer said.

"Both Gerard and Ben have been outstanding this season and particularly in the final series".

Bernard Sutton and Luke Patten will be the video referees as the Cowboys chase their first ever premiership.

Brett Suttor and Steve Carrall will be the touch judges, with Matt Cecchin on standby as the back-up referee.
