Suva to stage NZ Super Rugby derby

The Chiefs and Crusaders will square off in the familiar surrounds of Suva during next year's Super Rugby championship.

Fiji will host a Super Rugby match for the fourth successive season when Kiwi heavy-hitters the Chiefs and Crusaders square off in June next year.

The Chiefs will "host" the round 16 match in Suva on June 1, bringing the teams together there for a third time.

The first such fixture was won 23-13 by the Chiefs in 2016 before the Crusaders prevailed 31-24 the following season.

This year, the Chiefs beat the Highlanders at a sold-out ANZ Stadium, which is becoming a familiar and popular venue, according to Chiefs chief executive Mike Collins.

"The Fijian people have been great supporters of the Super Rugby matches we have played in Suva, and Fiji has added a lot to rugby in New Zealand over the years, so we're really pleased to be able to take another game there," he said.
