"They are entirely speculation," he told ABC Radio, referring to reports quoting government sources that any deal he approved would not pass parliament.
The government was going through the motions of considering a Foreign Investment Review Board determination of the merger between the ASX and its Singapore counterpart, The Australian Financial Review quoted a source as saying.
"I have no idea where those reports have come from," Mr Swan said, adding he was the final decision-maker on the merger.
"I will take my decision of the evidence before me, based not only the recommendation Foreign Investment Review Board but a thorough consideration of all the issues in good time."
