Swans shift AFL focus to Hannebery, Lloyd

Speculation continues to swirl about the future of Sydney vice-captain Dan Hannebery, while Jake Lloyd is yet to sign a contract extension with the AFL club.

Having been knocked out of the AFL finals in clinical fashion, Sydney will soon turn their attention to resolving the uncertain futures of Dan Hannebery and Jake Lloyd.

Hannebery and Lloyd may both have played their final games for the Swans, who suffered a 49-point loss to GWS in Saturday night's elimination final at the SCG.

Hannebery doesn't come off contract this year but St Kilda have made it clear they are actively pursuing the Swans vice-captain.

Lloyd, whose stocks continued to rise during a consistent season that was rewarded with selection in the preliminary 40-man All Australian squad, is yet to sign a contract extension.

Lloyd's suitors include Gold Coast but the 24-year-old reiterated two weeks ago that he wants to remain at the SCG.

"We're hoping Jake stays," Swans coach John Longmire said in his post-match press conference.

Regarding Hannebery, Longmire noted the issue wasn't on his radar after such a disappointing loss.

"I haven't thought about it," he said.

"At the moment he's contracted, so that's where it sits."

Hannebery's form has fluctuated during an injury-plagued season but he tallied 24 disposals in Saturday's elimination final.

Veterans Jarrad McVeigh and Heath Grundy recently penned one-year extensions, meaning the Swans have already settled many of their list dilemmas.

Longmire was reluctant to comment on his club's off-season wish list, noting it wasn't the right time to make rash statements or rash decisions.

"I don't think any club does that off the back of one performance, disappointing as it was. You always look at the bigger picture," he said.

"This won't change what we've been thinking. We've been thinking we need to keep getting better and improving."

Finding some more support for Franklin remains a key priority.

The Swans managed just 4.6 (30) in the loss to GWS, their lowest score from 385 games at the SCG.

'We're clearly disappointed with that," Longmire said.

"It's a really young forward group.

"There's a big reliance on Lance. We don't want that to continue to happen, we want to change it and will try to change it.

"Certainly Reidy (injured key forward Sam Reid) would make a difference in the front half and help with that.

"We know we need to score more but we also need to use the ball better."
