Swans to host non-derby finals at SCG

Sydney will play 2016 home AFL finals matches at the SCG, unless they face the Giants, in which case they will clash at ANZ Stadium.

The AFL has announced Sydney will play home finals this season at the SCG, unless they host a derby against cross-town rivals Greater Western Sydney.

The Swans were contracted to play home finals this year at ANZ Stadium, but the AFL has reached an agreement with the management of that venue for finals against non-Sydney teams to be staged at the SCG.

"If the finals fixture produces a head-to-head match between the Swans and the Giants, this would possibly be the biggest game in NSW in the history of our sport and we would play that game at ANZ Stadium," AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said.
