The NSW Swifts are primed for a tough road trip after a resounding 68-44 victory over the Adelaide Thunderbirds maintained their unbeaten start in the trans-Tasman netball competition.
The Swifts had to overcome some stiff opposition from the winless and battered T-birds, leading by just one goal at quarter-time and nine at halftime before emptying their bench as they cleared out in the later stages.
With three home wins to start the season, the 2015 runners-up look strong, especially with star Kiwi signing Laura Langman fitting in nicely and claiming match MVP honours on Sunday.
However they now go on the road to face the other leading Australian sides, playing the West Coast Fever on Friday before a keenly-anticipated grand final rematch with the also unbeaten Queensland Firebirds in Brisbane on April 30.
Swifts goal shooter Caitlin Thwaites finished with 34 goals from 39 attempts against the Thunderbirds and was ably assisted by Susan Pettit with 19 from 23.
The hosts' dominance, achieved through the likes of internationals Sharni Layton, Laura Langman, Kimberlee Green and Thwaites was reflected in the attempts-at-goal statistics with the Swifts taking 82 shots to the Thunderbirds' 54.
The Thunderbirds have been decimated by illness and injury in recent weeks but started well with captain Erin Bell playing a key role in attack and goalkeeper Samantha Poolman keeping Thwaites honest.
