Sword and gun used in attempted robbery

A news agency owner has been threatened with a sword and a firearm during an attempted robbery on the NSW Central Coast.

A man has been injured during an attempted robbery by two masked men armed with a sword and a firearm on the NSW Central Coast.

Police were called to a news agency at Avoca Beach at about 2.45am on Monday after the 61-year-old owner was threatened with both weapons as the men demanded cash.

They assaulted him before fleeing empty-handed.

The owner was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
