A man has been charged after allegedly pulling out a sword and assaulting a man as they argued in Sydney's west.

A sword-wielding man has been charged after an argument broke out between two men in Sydney's west.

A 32-year-old man allegedly went to a home in Canley Heights to speak to a 58-year-old man known to him. A dispute has erupted with the younger man fetching a sword from his car and allegedly assaulting the other man, police say.

The victim has suffered a laceration to his leg, while the 32-year-old has been charged with assault offences and having an offensive implement in a public place.
