Navigating her pram through the commuters on a train station platform, a Sydney mother pushes her way through as her young daughter hops along beside her.
But in the blink of an eye, the little girl makes a dash for the train and falls straight through the gap, hitting her head as she falls.
The incident - which the little girl survived after her mother pulled her out from the platform at Epping train station - was just one of 238 accidents involving children at train stations across NSW.
The figure represents a slight increase from safety incidents last year, with child injuries also rising from 66 to 72 in 2015.
"We're seeing distressing images of children who are slipping or falling in, in and around train platforms," Transport Minister Andrew Constance said.
"As a result, we're seeing injuries happening at around one a week in terms of children".
He's urged parents and carers to keep an eye on their little ones while travelling on trains.
"And if you do see a mum or dad struggling with a pram, please get in and help them," he said.
