Sydney Airport lifts profit 4.2%

Strong international passenger numbers have lifted Sydney Airport's first-half profit by 4.2 per cent.

Sydney Airport's first-half net profit is up 4.2 per cent to $174 million after continued strength in passenger numbers.

The operator of Australia's biggest airport, Kingsford Smith, recorded 21.6 million passengers in the six months to June 30, up from 21 million a year ago. Revenue rose 7.9 per cent to $770.8 million driven by international passengers and growth across all businesses.

It declared an interim fully-franked distribution of 18.5 cents per stapled security, up from 16.5 cents a year ago.
