Sydney bikie charged over illegal pistol

Sydney police have charged a Hells Angels bikie for refusing to surrender a pistol he was not allowed to own as his firearms licence was suspended.

A Hells Angels member has been charged for refusing to surrender a pistol he was not allowed to own.

The 34-year-old purchased a Glock 34 from a licensed dealer after losing his firearms licence last year when one of his rifles was seized during a raid on another person's home, police said.

Police on Thursday night went to the man's home at Cartwright, in Sydney's southwest, to confiscate the gun but he wouldn't surrender it to the officers.

"He was subsequently arrested and taken to Blacktown police station, where he was charged with not surrendering a firearm when his licence was suspended," police said.

The Hells Angel is also facing several other gun charges relating to the November seizure of his rifle.

He appeared before Blacktown Local Court on Friday, where he was refused bail.

He's due in Liverpool Local Court on February 12.
