The father of a three-year-old boy killed after being struck by a car while being pushed in a stroller along a Sydney street has spoken of his profound loss.
His son was critically injured after two cars collided and one then crashed into him on a Granville footpath on Tuesday evening.
"He was a beautiful little guy, and that's how I want him remembered," his father told Channel 7 on Wednesday.
He said his son loved karate and dressing in costume.
"He was just a fun-loving boy that loved everybody."
Laying flowers at the Lumley Street scene with his wife and second son, the father choked back tears as he recalled the horrific moments leading up to the fatal crash.
"We were going to bring our other son to karate, and we were walking on the footpath here, and my son lost his life right over there with a car corralling (sic) around the corner," he said.
Paramedics tried desperately to resuscitate the boy before taking him to The Children's Hospital at Westmead where he died.
"It was just horrible ... we did everything we could. We did CPR, we did AR, the ambulance was here, the fire truck, everybody was here. We even had an escort to go to the hospital, but it didn't work," his father said.
"It was horrible, it was terrible."
The father was not injured in the crash.
A male driver and female passenger from one of the cars were treated by paramedics at the scene, while the male driver of the second car was taken to Westmead Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both will undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.
