The ashes of the Lutz-Manrique family will be returned to their native home of Colombia following their Sydney funeral.

The family of four, who were killed in a suspected murder-suicide by father Fernando, 44, were farewelled on Monday at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Wahroonga.

Hundreds turned out to remember Mr Manrique, his wife Maria Lutz, 43, and their autistic children Elisa, 11, and Martin, 10.

The four were found dead along with their pet dog in their Davidson home in Sydney's north after what police suspect was a deliberate gas poisoning.

Most of the Lutz and Manrique families flew out from Colombia to attend the funeral.

They will return with the remains of Ms Lutz, Mr Manrique and the children, who were cremated in a private service after the funeral.

Readers seeking support and information about suicide prevention can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
