A woman allegedly six times the legal alcohol limit has been charged after a six-year-old girl was struck by a car in Sydney's northwest.
The 50-year-old was attempting to reverse from a parking spot at Eastwood on Wednesday afternoon when she drove forward and struck the car in front, pushing it into another car and trapping the child, police say.
The girl was trying to cross between the two parked vehicles in Progress Avenue when she was crushed and suffered suspected pelvic injuries, a CareFlight spokesman says.
She was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
It's alleged the woman, who was allegedly also using a mobile phone while driving, tried to flee on foot but was detained by bystanders until police arrived.
She was arrested shortly after and a subsequent breath test allegedly returned a reading of 0.303.
She has been charged with high range drink-driving, causing bodily harm by misconduct and driving while using a mobile phone.
The woman was conditionally bailed to face Burwood Local Court October 24.
