Sydney heroin supply ring busted with 77yo

Four women and two men aged between 38 to 77 have been arrested after an investigation into the distribution of heroin in Sydney's Potts Point area.

An elderly woman is among a group of six charged with supplying heroin as part of a mid-level drug ring in the affluent Sydney suburb of Potts Point.

The 77-year-old has been charged with supplying and possessing a prohibited drug, dealing with proceeds of crime and participating in a criminal group after police busted the syndicate on Wednesday morning following a four-month investigation.

Besides Potts Point, police raided homes in Sydney's Neutral Bay, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst as well as Albury in southern NSW, arresting four women and two men.

It's alleged the heroin supply ring was operating in Potts Point but managed from Albury.

One of the alleged leaders of the group, a 51-year-old woman, was charged with 30 counts of supplying a prohibited drug and one count of ongoing supply. She appeared in court on Wednesday and was refused bail.

Another alleged leader, a 51-year-old man, was charged with drug supply offences and directing a criminal group. He is due to face Albury Local Court on April 18.

A 58-year-old man and 61-year-old woman were also charged with drug supply and participating in a criminal group offences and will appear also separately at Manly and Downing Centre local courts on April 18.

The 77-year-old woman will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on May 10.

A 39-year-old woman was charged with drug supply and participating in a criminal group and appeared in Central Local Court on Wednesday.
