Hundreds of people from Sydney's Jewish community witnessed the lighting of the Giant Menorah in the heart of the city.
The festival of light is celebrated with the lighting of a candle each day on the special eight- branch candle-holder known as a Menorah.
'Chanukah' or 'Hannukah' commemorates a Jewish miracle when a handful of Jews reclaimed and rededicated the Holy Temple in Jerusalem more than 21 centuries ago.
