Hundreds of people from Sydney's Jewish community witnessed the lighting of the Giant Menorah as part of the 'Chanukah' festival.

Hundreds of people from Sydney's Jewish community witnessed the lighting of the Giant Menorah in the heart of the city.

The festival of light is celebrated with the lighting of a candle each day on the special eight- branch candle-holder known as a Menorah.

'Chanukah' or 'Hannukah' commemorates a Jewish miracle when a handful of Jews reclaimed and rededicated the Holy Temple in Jerusalem more than 21 centuries ago.
