Sydney murder accused refused bail

A man charged with the murder of a woman in Sydney's southwest, has been refused bail after a brief court hearing.

A man accused of murdering a woman found fatally injured in the bathroom of a McDonald's restaurant in Sydney has been refused bail.

Paramedics were called to Camden Valley Way, Gregory Hills about 2.30am (AEST) on Saturday after staff found Ranjit Singh, 38, and Sandeep Thind, 30, both injured, in the toilets.

Ms Thind was taken to Campbelltown Hospital but died soon after, and police subsequently charged Singh with her murder.

In a brief court hearing on Sunday, Singh's lawyer did not apply for bail on his client's behalf and it was formally refused.

Singh, who did not appear in Parramatta bail court, will next appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday via audio-visual link.

His lawyer requested for him to be assisted by a Punjabi interpreter on that occasion.
