Seven tonnes of explosives will light up Sydney Harbour to welcome 2016 and this year the display will be even louder and longer with an extra 2400 fireworks launching from the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
"In total there are 23,000 fireworks from the bridge itself so this year is going to be pretty special," fireworks director Fortunato Foti said.
Seven generations of pyrotechnicians means that a love of fireworks is in the blood, Mr Foti said.
"We try to make it different each year and hopefully this year people go away thinking it is the best ever," he said.
"From Cockatoo Island to Shark Island it's all the same ... if you can see fireworks you got a front row seat."

One million people will jostle for vantage points on Sydney foreshore on the night and close to one billion will tune into watch the $7 million event.
"Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks is one of the largest and most complex fireworks displays in the world and we are very proud to bring it to the people of Sydney," Sydney NYE producer Anuerin Coffey said.
But the best views go to those setting off the fireworks with Mr Foti perched atop the bridge, while the latest family member to join the 45-member crew will be hanging underneath it.
"Usually I am on the side watching but this year I get to get in on the action," 18-year-old Angie Foti said.
Ms Foti said she was excited to be part of the display but although she would be awake until 6am on January 1 it would be all work, rather than partying.
"The crowds watching around the harbour and the millions watching at home around the world will be delighted," Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
This year's theme, City of Colour, will drive most of the display but a special launch at 9pm will include butterflies, octopuses, four-leaf clovers and a bouquet of flowers to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Taronga Zoo.
