A strong training session from AFL star Adam Goodes was good enough for Sydney coach John Longmire.
The two-time Brownlow Medallist changed Longmire's mind on Thursday afternoon, forcing his way into the team for the MCG match on Saturday night against Melbourne.
It will be his first AFL game since injuring his knee in round 13 last year and a timely boost for the Swans, who have had to deal with Lance Franklin's Wednesday night car crash.
Before Thursday's training, Longmire said Goodes and Sam Reid were in the selection mix.
But he added the Swans were unsure whether either would play, with a decision to be made on Friday afternoon.

That was before Goodes took matters into his own hands.
"He turned up today and looked really sharp and virtually came into my office afterwards and said he was keen to play," Longmire when the team was announced.
"He's been training well over the last few weeks and has been doing all that's been required of him.
"Adam knows himself pretty well, so he comes into the team which is great news."
The Demons will also welcome back a veteran who has not played since midway through last season.
Ruckman Mark Jamar last played at AFL level in round 13, when he was sidelined with a toe injury.
The Demons promoted Christian Salem for his AFL debut and recalled Shannon Byrnes, with Jordie McKenzie, Jake Spencer and Michael Evans left out.
