The gunman and two hostages have been confirmed dead following a 16-hour siege at a Sydney cafe.
The Lindt cafe's 34-year-old manager Tori Johnson was shot dead in the final minutes of the 16-and-a-half hour standoff.
Also killed was barrister and mother of three Katrina Dawson, 38, who worked in the city.
Heavily armed police stormed the Martin Place cafe early on Tuesday morning. The 50-year-old gunman, self-described Muslim cleric Man Haron Monis, was also killed.
Police say a "confrontation" occurred about 2.10am between police and the gunman, who'd taken 17 people hostage.

Survivors:
Out of the 15 surviving hostages, five ran free on Monday afternoon, another four ran out prior to gunshots being fired early on Tuesday morning. Police have confirmed that seven hostages were rushed to hospital including two pregnant women. Also among those injured in the siege was a male police officer, who suffered a facial wound from gunshot pellets.
Here's what we can confirm about the survivors:
Distinguishable in his blue blazer, John O'Brien, 83, was the first hostage able to escape from yesterday's Martin Place siege. Dramatic video footage from the event shows Mr O'Brien exiting the Lindt Café site seconds ahead of another hostage.
Mr O'Brien has publicly spoken about the harrowing ordeal, telling reporters he was relieved when he saw armed police waiting for him around the corner.
Jieun Bae (top) and Elly Chen, the two females Lindt employees, ran out of the cafe shortly before 5pm on Monday.
Cafe worker Harriette Denny, 30, managed to get out just before gunfire was exchanged, along with and three others, early on Tuesday morning.
Marcia Mikhael, was one of four Westpac workers caught up in the siege. She was visibly distraught as she was carried out by police after she was shot in the leg.

The hostages who were injured during the siege in Sydney are in a stable condition.
"Thank you God for bringing her out alive!" relative Amal Helen Mikhael wrote on Facebook.
Police released these details of the people injured in the Sydney CBD siege. All hostages involved in the siege were treated at the scene and at various hospitals.

The injured are:
A 75-year-old female who received a gunshot wound to the shoulder - stable condition.
A 52-year-old female who received a gunshot wound to the foot - stable condition.
A 43-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the leg - stable condition
A 39-year-old male who received a minor facial injury due to gunshot - treated at hospital and discharged.
A 35-year-old pregnant female assessed for health and welfare purposes - stable.
A 30-year-old pregnant female assessed for health and welfare purposes - stable.
