Emergency crews are working to restore power to all tornado-hit homes in Sydney's south within the next 24 hours.
The massive clean-up operation continued in Kurnell on Friday following Wednesday's powerful winds and storms that ripped off roofs, destroyed homes and overturned trucks.
Ausgrid said they were now going from house to house to restore electricity to homes.
"We had to rebuild about two-thirds of the network...it has been a huge effort from the crews," an Ausgrid spokesman told AAP.
The Baird government has announced financial support to the worst impacted areas in the Sutherland shire, which includes Kurnell, as well as Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra.
It allows eligible individuals and families to apply for financial assistance for damaged items and to fix up their homes.
"The Australian and NSW governments recognise the need for quick action to help affected communities recover from the devastating impacts of these storms, particularly so close to Christmas," federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan said.
Residents were still being warned of the danger of airborne asbestos after older houses were damaged by the record-breaking 213km/h winds.
SES crews were still working in Kurnell marking houses that had been cleared as safe with 20 homes being marked as uninhabitable due to damage or asbestos.
The damage from the storms is estimated to run into the tens of millions of dollars.
But the community spirit hasn't been dampened by the storm damage with locals even taking ownership of the devastating tornado and planning a party.
"Let's light the village up and show everyone what this lil village is all about! This Kurnado cannot keep us down!(sic)," a user posted on the Kurnellian Facebook page.
