A student attacked by three men, has been saved from serious injury by real-life ninjas in the Sydney suburb of Kingswood, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.
The 27-year-old German medical student was sitting alone on a late-night train, when three men sidled up to him and told him to hand over his wallet. When he refused, they followed him off the train, trailing him as he walked down Bringelly Road, Kingswood, in the city's west.
They followed him into a dimly lit alleyway and tripped him. They kicked him as he lay on the ground, grabbed his mobile phone and iPod, not realising that they were standing outside Ninja Senshi Ryu - western Sydney's ninja warrior school.
Kaylan Soto, a sensei with 30 years' Ninjutsu training, and three of his students raced out of the dojo towards the startled attackers. All five crusaders were clad in the ninja's traditional, all black uniform.
"We looked around to see what was happening and there were three blokes on this guy just kicking him and punching him in the head," he said.
"We started running towards them and they took off. They would have seen five of us in ninja gear... all in black with our belts on, running toward them.
"I think they're probably still running if I'm not mistaken," Soto told the ABC.
The ninjas chased the men, who escaped only to be arrested shortly afterward police.
The student, who has been in Sydney for only eight weeks as part of an exchange program, suffered minor injuries.
