Sydney terror accused to seek bail

A Sydney man, who is accused of breaching control conditions related to terrorism, is expected to apply for bail.

A Sydney man banned from associating with accused terror extremists is expected to apply for bail after he allegedly breached his strict control order conditions.

Ahmad Saiyer Naizmand, 21, is facing five charges of breaching the control order that prevents him from associating with 18 Sydney extremists, watching terrorist propaganda and possessing guns or chemicals.

He was arrested by counter terrorism officers at his home on February 29 and did not face Burwood Local Court for a brief hearing last week.

His lawyer Hisham Karnib indicated he would make a bail application via audio-visual link on Monday.

In court documents, police have alleged that on "no less than five occasions" Naizmand accessed "electronic media depicting or describing propaganda or promotional material for a terrorist organisation", namely Islamic State, in January and February.
