A toddler is dead after being run over by a car in the driveway of a western Sydney home on New Year's Eve.

Emergency services were called to a home on Wootten Street, Colyton after the 23-month-old boy was struck by a Mazda 3 just after 7pm on Saturday.

The 23-year-old male driver has been taken to Nepean Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

The Sydney's toddler's death comes a day after a seven-month-old Queensland baby was killed when his mother reversed her car into his pram.
