Sydney's Western motorway from Concord to the M7 has been deemed the worst stretch of road in both NSW and the country, according to a new report.
The motorway was one of two major Sydney roads that made it in the top 10, with the Hume Highway from the South Western Motorway to Narellan Road ranked third worst in the nation.
Meanwhile the Sturt Highway from Wagga Wagga to Narrandera in the Riverina has been listed as the best performing stretch of road in the state, according to the Australian Roads Assessment Program (AusRAP).
NRMA spokesman Peter Khoury said Sydney drivers shouldn't be disheartened by the report because there upgrades are underway for a number of NSW roads including the Pacific Highway, Western Motorway and Great Western Highway.
"The Pacific Highway upgrade will be completed in the next three years and anyone who drives a car in Sydney knows how crucial WestConnex will be to solving the traffic crisis on Parramatta Road and the M4/Western Motorway," Mr Khoury said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Western Motorway's 24km stretch from Parramatta Road, Concord to the M7 Westlink, has an average of 94,050 vehicles using it each day.
Almost 800 crashes and six deaths have occurred on that stretch of road between 2010 and 2014, the report showed.
