Sydney Uni staffer acted corruptly: ICAC

ICAC has found a former University of Sydney IT manager engaged in corrupt conduct by giving preferential treatment to an associate's company.

A former University of Sydney IT manager has been found to have acted corruptly in a contractor hire scam that funnelled hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits to an associate's company.

A NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption investigation found Jason Meeth's preferential treatment of an associate's company Canberra Solutions in 2012 and 2014 caused the university to hire under-qualified IT contractors, and resulted in an $800,000 profit to the company.

While ICAC was unable to prove Mr Meeth received kickbacks from Canberra Solutions manager Balu Moothedath, the commission recommended that consideration be given to prosecuting Mr Moothedath for giving false or misleading evidence.
