A volunteer medical worker has raised concerns about the possibility of a targeting game being played by Syrian snipers.

A Syrian rebel sniper observes the movement of Syrian government forces near Al-Kendi hospital in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo on April 10, 2013.

A volunteer doctor has spoken out about his suspicions that snipers in the Syrian civil war are targeting pregnant women.

Dr David Nott has volunteered at several hospitals in Northern Syria with the Syria Relief charity, and says that most days, sniper wounds made up 90 per cent of the surgeries he performed.

He believes snipers have been shooting pregnant women on purpose.

“One day we received 15, 16 gunshot wounds, and of that, eight to nine were targeted in the left groin only. And then the following day they were targeted in the right groin only. I think definitely there was a game going on… a targeting game.”

Dr Nott says that the UN should establish a Humanitarian Quarter in Syria, where civilians can safely access food, provisions and medical aid.
