A new al-Qaeda style trend is emerging amidst the unrest in Syria, with an increase in suicide bombings and elaborate videos to accompany them.

Videos showing suicide bombings and roadside bomb attacks have been released, suggesting that radical Islamist fighters have made their way to Syria.

The attacks appear to target the military and for Western officials, al-Qaeda's arrival is further complicating the question of intervention.

The majority of activists in Syria remain unarmed and the Free Syrian Army has denied links with Islamic extremism.
