Tales of indigenous WWI veterans shared

The stories of dozens of indigenous World War I volunteers with links to Western Australia and those who weren't allowed to serve have been told in a new book.

Indigenous Australians who fought in the First World War or who were knocked back from military service will have their stories heard.

The new book No Less Worthy shares the stories of 135 Aboriginal volunteers for the war with links to Western Australia, alongside rare historic photographs.

Some of those profiled served overseas, while others were told they couldn't do so when they put up their hands up, for "not being of substantially European descent or origin".

Western Australia's Aboriginal Affairs Minister Ben Wyatt will launch the book at Canberra's National War Memorial on Friday.
