Lewis was expected to compete in her fifth Commonwealth games, but tendonitis cut short her quest to take part in the women's 4x400m relay.
"It's not about security and hygiene, but my times are about two seconds slower than my best and I want the best for the relay team and I would hamper our prospects." Lewis told the Herald Sun.

"I really hope for the sake of the games' future and for my team-mates participating that the games go ahead safely and successfully," The 32 year old said.
