Tas baby's head-injury death investigated

The death of a nine-week old Tasmanian baby is being investigated by police.

The death of a nine-week old baby girl from head injuries is being investigated by Tasmanian police.

The child, from Deloraine in the state's north, died in the Royal Hobart Hospital on Thursday night after being admitted on Sunday.

She suffered a brain injury and her life-support was turned off, local media reported.

A post mortem examination was due to be performed on Friday, a Tasmania Police statement said.

Launceston detectives are in Hobart investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and were expected to speak with medical staff and the infant's parents.
