Tas budget to deliver $54 million surplus

Tasmanian Treasurer Peter Gutwein has told the state's parliament his latest budget will deliver a $54 million surplus.

Tasmania is back in the black and expected to stay that way for the foreseeable future, with the state's Liberal government confirming a $54 million surplus for the next financial year.

Ahead of Thursday's 2017/18 budget, due to be handed down at 3pm, Treasurer Peter Gutwein told parliament his good news.

"I can confirm to expect to deliver a surplus of $54 million in the coming budget year and modest budget surpluses each and every year across the forward estimates," he said.
