Tas govt backs upper house gun law inquiry

The Tasmanian Liberal government says it will back an upper house inquiry into its plan to weaken the state's gun laws.

The Tasmania government will support an upper house inquiry into proposed gun law changes.

Police Minister Michael Ferguson said the inquiry, raised by independent MLC Ivan Dean, would be a chance for for "everyone concerned to have their say".

During the election campaign it was revealed the Liberals planned to water down gun laws by making weapons such as pump-action shotguns more readily available and doubling the duration of some gun licenses.
