Tas in for rough weekend weather

Winds reaching 100km/h and rainfall of up to 100mm are among the conditions forecast for Tasmania in coming days.

Tasmania should brace for rough weather including strong winds and high rainfall starting over the weekend.

The State Emergency Service on Friday issued a severe weather warning for conditions expected to start on Sunday and stretching into Monday, including rain of up to 100mm and gusts up to 100km/h in parts.

"Due to heavy northeast swells, damaging surf conditions are also expected on the east coast on Monday, thereby leading to significant coastal erosion," SES spokesman Nick Connolly said, adding that teams will be on standby.
