Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman has told his party it's their duty to win elections, noting the sharp reduction in the number of Liberal state leaders still in the job.

Mr Hodgman told the Liberal Party's 59th Federal Council that the number of Liberal premiers has gone from five to two since he came to power three and a half years ago.

He said the shift illustrated the "fragile nature" of politics.

"It's our duty, all of us, to ensure the future election of Liberal and coalition governments across our nation," he said in Sydney on Saturday.

Tasmanian voters are expected to go to the polls early next year, with Labor finding its best level of voter support in more than two years with a change of leadership.

Mr Hodgman spent much of his speeches spruiking his projects, policies and economic changes he perceives to be successes.

He said "it is a very exciting time, indeed, to be a Tasmanian", drawing from a similar slogan coined by prime minister Malcolm Turnbull.

"We're pulling our weight and we are punching above us," Mr Hodgman said.

"We are entitled to our fair share as an equal state in the federation."

Tasmanians voted out first term federal MPs Andrew Nikolic, Brett Whiteley and Eric Hutchinson - dubbed the "Three Amigos" - last year.

The result left the Liberals with no Tasmanians in the lower house.
