Tasmania routed an inexperienced Western Australia to reach a commanding position at stumps on day two of their Sheffield Shield match at Bellerive Oval.

The Warriors were skittled for just 67 in their first innings in reply to the Tigers' 9-431 (dec), headlined by a Matthew Wade century.

Asked to follow on, the Warriors limped to 5-176 to still trail by 188 runs.

Tigers youngster Tom Rogers ran through the WA lower order, finishing with 4-9 from just three overs after a quick-fire 48 with the bat earlier on Saturday.

"(I was) pretty happy to come into the bowling line-up when they were already five wickets down," he said.

"Our front two, three quicks did the job with their top order.

"All the group pitched in."

Tasmania's five-man pace battery was almost unplayable under overcast skies in Hobart.

Sam Rainbird and Andrew Fekete picked up two scalps each as WA were rolled midway through the second session after being 2-23 at lunch.

The only shining light for the understrength Warriors was a second innings 74 from opener Josh Philippe.

WA are missing eight players to Australia T20 or Test duty, including Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh and D'Arcy Short.

Resuming at 5-327 on Saturday, the Tigers lost Wade (139) and allrounder Simon Milenko (78) inside the first four overs.

But bowlers Rogers and Rainbird put a young Warriors attack to the sword in an 81-run partnership.

Late on day one, former Test wicketkeeper Wade brought up his 10th first-class ton after the Tigers had slumped to 5-159.

Tasmania are second last on the table but just eight competition points behind leaders Queensland. WA are third.
