Tasmania set Redbacks 316 in one-day cup

George Bailey hit 86 off 62 balls as Tasmania posted 6-315 against South Australia in the one-day cup in Sydney.

George Bailey top-scored with a blistering half-century as winless Tasmania posted 6-315 against South Australia in their one-day domestic cup clash.

Former one-day international captain Bailey hit six sixes on his way to 86 off 62 balls batting a No.4 at North Sydney Oval on Tuesday.

He was well supported by ex-Test batsman Alex Doolan with 62, while Australian Test wicketkeeper Matthew Wade chipped in with 46 as he bids to find form before the Ashes after a lean tour of the subcontinent.

The Redbacks started well when paceman Nick Winter removed opener Ben McDermott LBW for a duck in the second over.

But Ben Dunk (45) and No.3 Doolan combined for a 77-run second-wicket partnership before the former was bowled by spinner Michael Cormack in the 21st over.

Star all-rounder James Faulkner helped get the total past 300 with a handy 34 off 19 balls, while Winter struggled for rhythm to bowl 10 wides for figures of 2-94 off his 10 overs.

Cormack was the pick of the SA bowlers with 2-52 off nine overs.

Tasmania sit last on the table after losing their first three matches.
